Wooooot!

...
Well, I’m going to update the blog about a current endeavor of mine (more specifically, update my sister Brooke, since she may be the only one who reads this… Hola! Como estas? :) ... ). So, the endeavor... It's the ongoing one, that probably truly got started in 8th grade. It is the never-ending desire to lose weight and put all my family and close friends into week-long comas due to the shock my appearance causes them.

I have learned a lot about self-discipline over the last couple of months, and though I will not repeat the words I’ve over-used (both in saying and writing) all my life (“THIS IS IT; I’m definitely going to lose the weight this time!! Yahhhh!!!!”), I am going to say that I have a stronger desire to be strict and follow the rules I set for myself.

I have a friend here in Tennessee who (due to having 5 children, dangerous and health impacting pregnancies, thyroid challenges, and other health situations that affected her ability to lose weight) used to be very overweight. I would guess that her kind of situation would be one the doctors would normally say would take 2 years or so to get back to her healthy weight (and that, working really hard, because it’s NOT easy to lose weight with thyroid problems), but over the last 6 months (I believe) she’s lost 90 pounds through extremely strict dieting that would normally be considered very unhealthy (due to the low amount of calories) if not for the substance she takes while she is dieting. She is EXTREMELY health conscious, and always has been. She knows a lot more about the HCG diet then I do. But I'll tell you the bit that I know.

As far as common knowledge goes, if you only consume 500 calories/day, your body will begin to burn muscle and protein in your body for energy because it is most easily accessed. If you consume 500 calories/day while taking HCG, that does not happen.

I’ve heard 2 different versions of what HCG does.

First version is that it releases abnormal, stored fats (that are not structural, necessary fats) from the hypothalamus gland (if I’m not mistaken) and therefore, as these fats are in circulation, the body consumes/burns these fats for energy instead of muscle (because of their easy access).

Another person gave me a slightly different version, which is that HCG protects [he, a nutritionist working with HCG for like 20 years, said it “puts a shroud” around] your muscles, organs, and proteins in the body, so your body only burns the unnecessary, abnormal fats. Same idea, but slightly varying.

Anyway, so they say the average person can easily be taking HCG and releasing 1000-4000 calories of abnormal fat, so depending on how much calories your body needs to provide enough energy for your body, there it goes using those fats for energy. So the majority of weight you lose is fats. And the 1 lb a day is AVERAGE results. It’s not one of those infomercials that says “results not typical.” It’s typical. Some lose a little less, some a little more. We all know the HCG isn’t what makes them lose the weight. It’s the 500 calorie diet, of course. But the point it – THEY AREN’T Losing MUSCLE as long as they follow the diet exactly and take the HCG.

(I’ve gathered this information from friends I know who’ve done the diet, from the book “Pounds and Inches” by Dr. Simeons, the book “HCG Weight loss cure guide” by Linda Prinster, and literature personal guidance from doctors and nutritionists who work at MD Diet in Utah, as well as some brief looks at http://hcgdietinfo.com, forums, random sites, etc…)

So after that LONG introduction; I ordered the drops (they come in injections and drops) and started yesterday. If I stick to it like my friend I could be down to where I want to be in 6 months.

Basic layout would be as follows (as long as I put that self discipline to work):

(March 3, 2010) Current weight: 245 lbs

Start HCG (First round)
March 4-April 10: Loss of 30 lbs (about 1 lb/day)
By April 10: 215 lbs

2 week break (April 11-25th) (on what is known as Phase 3 to many HCG Dieters, or a no sugar/no starch diet with some other specifications which locks in your knew weight)

Start HCG (Second round)
April 26th-May 31: Loss of 25 lbs (a little less than 1 lb/day)
By May 31: 180 lbs

2 week break (June 1-14)(Back to Phase 3)

Start HCG (Third, final round)
June 15-July 20: Loss of 20lbs (less than 1 lb/day)
By July 20th: 160 lbs

July 21st: Once again, Phase 3, but for a bit longer time (no starches/no sugars phase in order to secure weight loss results in order to establish new weight as a base weight.)

August 1st: Begin what is known as "Phase 4" or the maintaining phase.

By September 31st: Maintain, not going above 165
By December 31, 2010: Be maintaining below 160

I'm following a book (the same one as my friend did) and for those who will naturally wonder (due to my personality), I am being disciplined, and will continue to be so. :) No cheating. I'm being strict, and working hard every day. I'll also still continue exercise, so we'll see if that helps it along even more.

That's all I'll write for now. Of course as always, my entry was quite a bit longer then I had intended. But if it were short and sweet, it just wouldn't be me. Long & RICHLY satisfying is more my style. Though for your tastes, it may simply be long. Which is ok with me. :)

Thanks so much for reading!

You comment, I'll respond. It's a promise.
